Witness plea after man dies in collision with lorry on M42

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they investigate the death of a man who was in collision with a lorry on the M42 near Alvechurch last night (Monday, December 16).

Officers are still working to identify the man who was on foot when he was in collision with a Heavy Goods Vehicle on the northbound carriageway between Junctions 2 and 3 at about 10.15pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and the Worcestershire Coroner has been informed.

The lorry driver was not hurt.

Following the collision the carriageway was shut for around three hours while enquiries were conducted at the scene by officers from the Central Motorway Police Group and the West Mercia Police collision investigation unit.

Sergeant Dave Lonsdale said: “We are still working to establish who the man is and further searches are being made at the scene this morning. This was a tragic incident and we would appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision or the man walking on or alongside the motorway before it happened to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
