PLANS are underway for the Bidford Village Nativity, which is taking place this Saturday, December 14.
The nativity usually sees between 50 and 80 adults taking part as well as children acting out some of the roles, and the entire village coming out to watch the procession as Mary rides a donkey up the High Street from the Methodist Church in Chapel Close, to Bethlehem.
Local pub landlords from the Frog and the Bull’s Head do their part to ensure there’s no room at the inn, before Mary, Joseph and the donkey make their way to a stable.
Shepherds will be visited by angels in the churchyard at St Laurence’s Church, while the wise men are led to the stable, and local livestock farmers have offered a sheep and an ox to accompany the procession.
Children wanting to take part in the nativity as angels and shepherds are more than welcome, and they should arrive at St Joseph’s Church by 3pm to ensure they have time to dress up.
The nativity starts at 3.30pm and adults are invited to bring lanterns or torches, and umbrellas in case of rain. The nativity finishes with a service at St Laurence’s Church, followed by winter refreshments.
