SANTA has announced the dates for his grand tour of Alcester with the Round Table Christmas float, and this year he will also be adding Bidford to his schedule.

The Alcester Round Table Santa float, travels around the town collecting thousands of pounds for local charities each year, and this year is no different, but due to a rise in the number of volunteers willing to help the Round Table, the organisation has been able to extend its plans to include the streets of Bidford.

Members of the Round Table, affectionately known as Tablers, will be supported by helpers from local organisations including Alcester First Responders, Alcester Town FC, Alcester Scouts, Alcester Guides, Coughton PTA, Friends of Haselor School, Teddy Bear Corner, Alcester Nursery and Bidford Juniors FC, all of whom will receive a share of the funds collected.

Howard Tinker from Alcester Round Table said: “We’ve run Christmas collections in Alcester for many years but thanks to growth in membership we’ve decided this year to take in Bidford as well, where we have a number of members.

“Anyone who makes a donation can rest assured that it will go towards helping the vital work of a local charity or community organisation.”

The Santa float will be travelling around Bidford on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15 before making its way up to Alcester for the following eight nights right up to December 23.

On Monday, December 16, and Tuesday, December 17 residents in the north-eastern part of Alcester might catch a glimpse of Santa, before the float over to the roads to the west of Priory Road on Wednesday, December 18, calling in on a few of the High Street pubs on its way.

On Thursday, December 19 the Santa float will be covering the north west of the town around Birmingham Road, before heading over to the south west on Friday, December 20, even paying a visit to Oversley Mill Caravan Park.

On Saturday, December 21, and Sunday, December 22 Santa will be visiting streets on the Conway estate, and finally on Monday, December 23 he’ll be making his way along the High Street and surrounding roads dropping into all the High Street pubs to ask for donations.
