THE famous moustache of Charlie Chaplin had new rivals in the form of hospital chaplains during a charity fund-raiser.

Team Mighty Movember, made up of chaplains from three county hospitals and RVS volunteer David Eastwood, were among thousands of others taking part in the month-long fund-raiser.

The money is used to raise raise awareness and improve treatment for men suffering with prostate and testicular cancer, and mental health.

And the moustache marathon saw chaplains David Southall, from Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Guy Hewlett from Kidderminster Hospital and David Ryan from the Alexandra in Redditch, raise more than £500 for the cause.

The Worcestershire team was part of the Holy Mo – a national collective of groups from faith communities, which saw 314 teams raise more than £23,000.

Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust chairman Harry Turner joined the team on Monday for a ‘shave off’ to mark the end of the challenge.

Rev Southall said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my mo. I was quite sad to lose.”

Mr Turner said: “I’m delighted to be here. Our chaplains have led the way with Movember this year.”
