A REDDITCH hospital chaplain joined others from across Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to raise more than £500 for men’s health charities by taking part in Movember.

The team which labelled itself ‘Team Mighty Movember’ was part of the Holy Mo, a national collective of groups from faith communities, which together managed to raise more than £23,000.

The challenge was brought to an end on Monday, December 2 with a group ‘shave off at Worcester Royal Hospital with trust chairman Harry Turner in attendance.

He said: “I’m delighted to be here to show support for our chaplains. They’ve led the way with Movember this year, it’s a great way to raise not only funds but also awareness of men’s health issues.”

David Ryan, chaplain from the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch added: “I thoroughly enjoyed my mo. I was quite sad to lose it, but it was all for a good cause.

“Movember is a great opportunity to join over one million other men across the world to raise awareness of men’s cancer and mental health.

“Men are so much more likely to feel reluctant about visiting their GP. We’d like to urge everyone to pay attention to their own body and always see a doctor if you notice anything out of the ordinary.”
