ONE man remains on police bail in connection with alleged sexual abuse against young children at a Worcestershire nursery.

In May a mother contacted police after her child said they had been assaulted at one of Bright Eyes Nurseries’ three branches, which are in Droitwich, Bromsgrove and Redditch.

West Mercia Police later received a second complaint about a further sexual offence against a second child.

The man remains on bail as a suspect while detectives investigate offences against a former member of staff, including harassment and sexual assault.

Six men were arrested following the initial investigation and five have since been released without charge.

Speaking in September, detectives insisted they could “confidently say” sexual offences did take place at the centre and were carried out by someone “directly linked” to Bright Eyes Nurseries.

The nursery has withdrawn its registration with Ofsted and will no longer provide any early years provision for children.

Ryan Lowe, aged 37, of Bodium Close, Worcester, was recently fined £200 after pleading guilty to producing cannabis. Lowe was charged after officers investigating the nursery discovered a small cultivation of cannabis plants.

Magistrates ordered the destruction of the plants and told Lowe to pay £85 costs.

Lowe, a minibus driver at the nursery, is not a suspect in either of the sexual assault investigations.
