Radzynski double condemns Spa to defeat

Sutton United 2 Droitwich Spa 0
SPA came into the game full of confidence after last week’s 4-2 victory over Hampton but were forced into reshuffling their starting line-up after losing Andy Crowther to injury and Phil Rowe only fit enough for a place on the bench.
The game was played in difficult conditions with pouring rain and a bobbly pitch restricting the flowing football that was in evidence throughout last week’s game.
Both sides were restricted to half chances for most of the first half. Spa slightly edged the possession in a battling display, but neither keeper were really troubled. The visitors thought they were going in level at half time only to concede a late free kick which Sutton danger man and league top scorer, Steve Radzynski, headed in at the far post with the last touch of the half.
A dejected Spa never really got going in the second half and struggled for any concerted pressure. The home side doubled their advantage when Spa were guilty of conceding possession in their own half and were clinically punished with Radzynski once again making no mistake with the finish..
Spa pushed players forward in search of a way back into the game but they never kept possession well enough to put enough pressure on the Sutton defence who saw off the remainder of the game without too many problems.
