A CHEF from Redditch has been voted one of the best curry chefs in the UK.
Mohammed Masum Miah, who runs the Little India Restaurant on Evesham Road, Astwood Bank, was one of a handful of chefs to receive official recognition at the Curry Chef of the Year Awards in London.
The awards, organised by Curry Life magazine, celebrate the best of the best in Asian cuisine as well as promote the curry industry.
Mr Miah said: “It’s hard work in the kitchen but I love what I do and it is nice to see that recognised. A successful restaurant is a team effort so this award is for everyone I work with.
“The award will inspire us to keep improving and I’d also like to thank all our customers for their help putting us on the map.”
Syed Belal Ahmed, editor of Curry Life Magazine, added: “This year’s event was bigger and better than ever and the support within the industry has been wonderful.
“The UK is the home for the best curry and we will continue with our mission to show this to the rest of the world.”
Guests at the recent event included secretary of state Eric Pickles, renowned economist Lord Meghnad Desai and Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder of Cobra Beer and one of the award’s sponsors.
