The circus is coming
8:30am Monday 30th September 2013 in News
THERE’S going to be a bunch of clowns in charge later this month when a brand new circus show comes to Redditch.
Kriss Freear and Paul Carpenter, better known as clowns Kakehole and Popol have been touring with various circuses across the UK for years, and have twice been named as the Best Comedy Act in the UK Circus Awards.
Now the two have decided to take the leap and launch their own show ‘Circus Wonderland’, which is heading to Arrow Valley Park from Wednesday, October 9 to Sunday, October 13.
The two have always dreamed of running their own show, but they’ve already discovered that there’s a big difference between entertaining an audience and managing the whole thing.
Mr Freear said: “Our biggest problems used to be aiming a custard pie in the right direction or not losing our rubber chicken. Now we are worrying about paying the wages, losing our ground deposits with the mud and generally how to get people in through the door.”
The clowns will be joined by international acts including artists Duo Stefaneli who fly into the roof of the Big Top in their glittering spaceship, and Miss Klaudia, who perches at the top of a twenty foot pole that is balanced on her husband’s head.
Mr Freear added: “The circus is special because with such a mix of acts there is something for everybody. The kids like the clowns and puppets, there are glamorous young ladies for the dads and the mums enjoy seeing our trapeze star Alejandro flying about wearing very little costume. In spite of all the hard work involved, we all love what we do and believe that the circus is still the greatest show on earth.”
Tickets for Circus Wonderland are £12 for adults and £10 for children, or £7 on the first day. For more information visit circuswonderland.co.uk.
