A REDDITCH man has been cleared by a jury at Worcester Crown Court of sexually abusing a young boy more than 30 years ago.
Gerard Drew, aged 59, who is profoundly deaf, denied allegations that he repeatedly attacked the boy, then six, in the bedroom of his then-home in Evenlode Close, Redditch.
Drew, now living in Southcrest Road, Redditch, pleaded not guilty to five counts of indecently assaulting the boy between March 1982 and March 1983 by kissing and touching him.
He was assisted by a team of six sign language experts who translated for him as he sat in the body of the court.
After the jury's unanimous not guilty verdicts, Judge Michael Cullum complimented them on their help in the case.
