Choir on the look out for new voices
12:50pm Sunday 25th August 2013 in News
ALCESTER Male Voice Choir is looking to recruit keen singers from around the Alcester, Redditch and Studley areas to add to its ranks.
The choir, which currently has 80 members, is holding a recruitment evening for its tenor and bass sections on Wednesday, September 11 at 7.30pm at the Jubilee Centre off St Faith’s Road in Alcester.
Any men interested in singing can go along to the evening and there’s no audition process, all keen singers are welcome to join.
Judith Land, the choir’s founder and director of music, said: “We are a community choir, and all we ask of our members is that they love singing and are prepared to commit to the regular rehearsals which are held every Wednesday evening, and also be prepared, once they feel confident, to take part in monthly concerts which take place throughout the region and beyond raising much needed funds for charities, churches, clubs and groups. New members should not feel intimidated, there is always plenty of guidance and help and no one is pushed beyond their comfort zone.”
The choir is about to start its 40th anniversary year with a series of special events planned, and is set to move permanently over to the Jubilee Centre after outgrowing its former home at Alcester Baptist Church.
