Church festival has a ring to it

PEOPLE are being invited to have a go at church bell ringing.
For those who have always wanted to have a go at bell ringing, a perfect opportunity is on offer as part of the Festival of Churches taking place in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire on September 14 and 15.
Several churches will be inviting people to have a go at pulling the ropes. These include Droitwich Spa’s St Augustine’s Church and Alvechurch’s St Lawrence’s Church.
“Bell ringing is one of the great traditions of English churches, so it’s only natural that it features among the events to be held during the Festival of Churches weekend,” said Sam Setchell from the Diocese of Worcester. “It’s also one of those things that many people have always fancied having a go at, so why not visit your local church and see if you can try your hand.”
The Festival of Churches is a weekend of historic church based events at more than 250 buildings across the three counties. Events range from local history displays, genealogy, stained glass windows, churchyard trails, flower festivals, photographic exhibitions, arts and crafts concerts and other music events.
