REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley is supporting a campaign to make sure every child joins their local library and do the Summer Reading Challenge.

The campaign, which aims to build confidence and independent reading, is run by charity The Reading Agency.

Research shows the Summer Reading Challenge increases children’s reading range and their enjoyment of reading significantly.

The MP said: “I really hope that parents and carers in Redditch will take their children to their local library this summer for The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge.

“It’s free, makes reading fun and is a fantastic way to encourage students to read.

“3,755 children in Worcestershire took part last year and I would personally like even more of this time to help show local libraries what a valuable asset they are to our community.”
