POLICE investigating allegations of a sexual assault at a children’s nursery have made an arrest over abuse claims against a second youngster.

West Mercia Police has said four men answered bail today (Thursday) in relation to the ongoing investigation into an alleged incident against a child at Bright Eyes Nurseries in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa in May.

The investigation was launched after the mother of a child reported an incident.

All the nurseries were closed and searched by officers. Ofsted also suspended the nurseries' registration while investigations continues.

However, one of the four suspects has now been rearrested after further allegations against another child came to light.

Detective Inspector James Hopkins said: “We can confirm that the four men who remain on bail as part of this investigation have today been rebailed pending further police enquiries into the offences they were arrested for.

“However, one of the four men was arrested when he answered his bail this morning and is being questioned on suspicion of an additional sexual offence against a different child.

"This man remains in custody at the present time.

"I would like to reassure people that a team of dedicated detectives are continuing to investigate all matters relating to this enquiry, while I can also confirm that we have made contact with the parents of children who attend the three Bright Eyes Nursery premises to make them aware of this latest development.”

Two other men initially arrested as part of the investigation were released from bail without charge in June.
