CHURCHES in Alcester and Studley are setting up a food bank, offering practical support to help those facing sudden crisis in the immediate area.
One of over 240 food banks in the UK, it will supply a minimum of three days emergency food where needed and vouchers will be issued by professionals such as doctors, social workers and church ministers.
On Saturday, March 16, a collection was held at the Co-operative store in Studley, by kind permission of the manager. Generous customers donated 267.5kg of food – that’s over a quarter of a ton.
Food collection points are being established at local churches and elsewhere. Additional volunteers are also being sought.
Details can be found at www.arden.foodbank.org.uk.
