NOT content with just one marathon charity challenge, a Redditch man has decided to up the ante and set himself two.

Thomas Fletcher, aged 19, of Mount Pleasant, will be taking part in both the Brighton Marathon on April 14, in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and the London Marathon, just a week later, on April 21, in aid of Lupus UK.

Mr Fletcher said: “Both the charities I am running for are close to my heart. My nan had breast cancer several years ago, and now has secondary cancer which has spread. And there have been other members of my family who have suffered from it, which is why I want to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.”

And as a friend has lupus, which is a disease that causes a person’s immune system to attack their body's own tissues, he wants to raise money for Lupus UK so it can do more to support people with it.

Mr Fletcher added: “I know doing two marathons is quite a challenge, but I do feel confident, and hope to raise as much money as possible for these two great causes.”
