Plenty of fun for young people at Redditch YMCA
11:50am Tuesday 19th March 2013 in News
IT’S all going to be kicking off at Redditch YMCA when it holds an Easter Football Camp in partnership with Redditch United FC.
The camp offers young players the chance to learn at their own pace and develop their technical knowledge and skills.
Players will have the opportunity to be signposted on to Redditch United junior teams to develop further.
The first week takes place from April 2-5, costing £30 for the four days or £10 per day. The second takes place from April 8-12, costing £35 for the five days or £10 per day. The days run from 9am-4pm and are suitable for children aged five-14.
Redditch YMCA has also recently secured funding to set up two new youth clubs.
Funding was granted from Worcestershire County Council’s Positive Activity funding for young people.
The first youth club will be Astwood Bank Youth Zone, (open access club), taking place on Thursdays from 6.30-8.30pm at Astwood Bank Methodist Church, off Church Road. It is open to 12-19 year olds.
The second club will be Junior Youth Zone (open access club) taking place on Wednesdays from 6.30-8.30pm at Church Hill Community Centre (Willow Trees Children’s Centre). It is suitable for 12-15 year olds.
Activities will include sport, pool, snooker, table tennis, cooking, art, games consoles, tuck shop, community projects, volunteer opportunities and school holiday trips. Both clubs cost £1 per session.
Darren Veness, Redditch YMCA Youth & Community Co-ordinator, said “Receiving this funding from the county council has enabled up to set up these new youth groups which will provide a great service to the young people in the community in which we work.”
