Advertising board victory for Unicorn Hill businesses

BUSINESSES on Redditch’s Unicorn Hill are celebrating after the threat of large fines for using advertising boards on the pavements outside their shops was lifted.

Town MP Karen Lumley has been campaigning for the past few weeks against the move to ban advertising boards for shops on Unicorn Hill.

And she was delighted when Redditch Council made to the announcement that in future, businesses would be able to keep their advertising boards outside their shop premises.

Mr Lumley said: “I am delighted that common sense has prevailed and the advertising boards will be allowed to remain. I passionately support doing all we can to help small and medium sized businesses and it is good to see that Redditch Council have finally seen sense on this issue.

“The move to ban advertising boards was completely unnecessary and was an example of regulation threatening business. It sent completely the wrong message for anyone who might consider opening a business in Redditch. Businesses must be removed from this red tape and unnecessary regulation.”
