An e-fit of the man who sexually assaulted a woman in Redditch
POLICE investigating a sexual assault on a woman IN Redditch have issued an e-fit picture of the man who attacked her.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was confronted by the man at around midnight on Saturday, March 2, in an underpass leading from near the recycling bins on the Tesco car park through to Mickleton Close, Oakenshaw.
She ran from the scene and a passing motorist raised the alarm after finding her in a distressed state in Evesham Road at about 12.45am.
Detective Inspector Leighton Harding said: “Although the woman was not seriously hurt this was a serious offence and it is vital we trace the person responsible. We have released this e-fit image of the attacker in the hope that someone will recognise him and give us a name.
“Anyone who thinks they know who he is should call us at Redditch CID on the non-emergency number 101 without delay or if they would prefer to give us details anonymously they can ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
The attacker is decribed as a white man in his 20s with blond hair. He was wearing jeans and a dark, waterproof coat with a hood.
Det Insp Harding said that despite an earlier appeal police had not been able to trace the occupants of a silver car which passed the woman near the water tower in Headless Cross Drive some time between midnight and 12.45am on the night of the attack.
He added: “We are not suggesting anyone in that car was involved in the offence but we still need them to come forward and help our investigation. We need to trace anyone who was out and about in that area at the time.
“I would urge people to get in touch if they remember anything at all which could potentially help us.”
