Britains top racers returning to Redditch

BRITAIN’S top racers will be returning to Redditch this year as part of The Tour Series.

The action and excitement of televised professional cycle racing will return on June 4, with highlights on ITV4 the next evening.

Household names like Olympic champion Ed Clancy and top Olympic track sprinter turned road racer Ross Edgar will be among the riders.

The series pits Britain’s leading professional cycling teams against each other over an hour of action packed racing on a compact town centre circuit.

Ed Dursley, from The Tour Series, said: “2012's event was a huge success for Redditch.

“This year, there will be more of an opportunity for locals to be involved in using the track for both races and parades before the professionals hit the circuit.

“It will be another fantastic day for Redditch."

Series Race director Mick Bennett added: “Last year was the first time we have visited Redditch, but the event was a great success with a first-class race and a great crowd,

“We are looking forward to returning and working with Worcestershire County Council to put on an even bigger event, and draw even more people along to watch.”

Further announcements regarding venues and teams will be made over the coming weeks.
