CHILDREN from Bright Kids Nursery in Studley and Crabbs Cross got into the spirit of World Book Day last Friday, dressing up as their favourite fictional characters, and sharing some of their favourite stories.

Toddlers at Bright Kids in Studley took part in imagination games and storytelling activities, while children in Crabbs Cross spent the day reading stories, using story sacks, and making up their own stories.

The children were also given a World Book Token to spend at their local bookseller participating in the initiative.

Anita Shepherd, nursery manager at the Crabbs Cross nursery, said: “The main aim of the day is to encourage children to develop an early understanding and love of literature, as well as to support the children and their families with first-hand experience of the world through the use of books.”

Katie Buckley, nursery manager at the Studley nursery, added: “The pre-school children really got into the spirit of the event and enjoyed sharing stories and acting out their favourite characters during role-play activities.”
