Students get published through writing competition

YEAR nine students at St Augustine’s Catholic High School in Redditch have had their work chosen for publication as part of the ‘Young Writers’ Competition’.

48 pupils from the school entered the competition to write a piece on the theme of ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, in no more than 80 words.

The competition was part of a literacy drive at the school which was launched in September 2012 and titles of the pieces included 'Mineshaft Madness', 'Double No', 'No Water Supply' and 'The Boot and the Seahorse’.

As part of the school’s literacy drive, pupils have been encouraged to read for pleasure, and they always bring a text to read during morning and afternoon form time.
