Man charged following knife incident in Redditch

A MAN is due to appear in court charged with a public order offence and possession of a knife following an incident in Redditch.

West Mercia Police went to Barnwood Close in the Church Hill area of the town at around 7.15pm on Thursday after receiving a report that people were being approached in the street by a man with a knife.

A 40-year-old man was arrested in the area a short time later and officers recovered a knife from a garden.

The man was yesterday charged with using threatening words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence and possessing a knife in a public place.

He has been remanded to appear at Worcester Magistrates Court this morning.
