Suggest a good cause to benefit from Redditch Big Hearts' fundraising
8:40am Friday 8th March 2013 in News
THE fundraising group Redditch Big Hearts is again appealing for help from the public to choose a worthy cause it can support this year.
Redditch Big Hearts was started by George Raison approximately 29 years ago. He is still chairman, and to date, the group has raised approx £86,000 towards various charities.
The best year was 2011, when it raised more than £6,000 for Help for Heroes and last year it raised more than £4,000 , which we split between Trudies Trust, a brain tumour research charity and Touchstones, which took over from Noah's Ark, supporting bereaved children.
A spokesman said: “We raise money in various ways such as raffles, tombolas, monthly quizzes and barbecues, and last year we had a Bandfest, with local bands Dilemna Council, Skull Diskco, Small Print and Garth and Adam, which was a great night.
“We are hoping to do that again this year, making it an all day event, with more bands.”
The Big Hearts also has the support of Rocklands Club members, such as Andy Williams, who ran a half marathon and donated sponosrship funds to the group’s chosen charities.
The group would like to hear from anybody who wants to nominate a good cause to benefit from its fundraising. Full details should be sent to Redditch Big Hearts, The Rocklands Private Members Club, 59 Birchfield Road, Headless Cross, Redditch.
Suggestions should be submitted by the end of March.
