NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commission Group (CCG)
NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commission Group (CCG) recently held its first public governing body meeting at Redditch Town Hall.
The meeting, led by Dr Jonathan Wells, local GP and chair of the CCG, was attended by the public, including members of the Save the Alex group.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions about health issues in the area.
Dr Wells said: “NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG is a new and different health body. We want to behave differently including having meetings that are more open and transparent and more relevant to the needs of local people.”
Among items discussed was the Joint Services Review (JSR), and the recent announcement which confirmed there are now two possible options for the future of services at Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital.
Dr Wells assured attendees that the CCG is committed to retaining the Alex as a thriving hospital, and that the exact services offered under the two options need to be worked out over the coming weeks and shared with residents in the summer.
Other items discussed included a new scheme being launched to ensure residents are involved and have their say on their local health services.
Resident and governing body member Judith Adams, said: “Now Have your Say’ is a new, easy way for residents to understand more about their CCG and their local health services.
“It will give people the opportunity to put forward ideas to staff who decide which services get commissioned locally and contribute to making things better.
“There will be three levels of involvement to the scheme. Level one will be launching during March, and levels two and three will be launched later this year for those people who would like more involvement.”
She said health issue events were also to be held. Details to be announced.
The next public meeting of NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG will be on Thursday, March 28, from 9.30am-12.30pm BHI Parkside, Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove B61 0AZ.
