Exciting times lie ahead as Vue Entertainment buys Redditch cinema

APOLLO Cinema, in Redditch’s Kingfisher Shopping Centre, has changed hands as part of an acquisition movement with Vue Entertainment, one of the UK’s leading cinema developers and operators of multiplex cinemas.
The cinema which will be renamed Vue Cinema Redditch, was the first in Europe to install full Sony 4k digital technology for all of its 7 screens, with 4 RealD 3D screens, when it opened in March 2007.
The acquisition will see a number of investments and improvements to both the infrastructure of the facility and offerings at the cinema. Customers will soon see changes to the aesthetics and signage.
Ken Williams, the Kingfisher’s general manager, said: “The acquisition of Apollo Cinema Redditch by Vue is a fantastic development not only for the cinema but also Kingfisher Shopping Centre. The cinema has been a key focal point for the centre since opening in March 2007.
“We’re delighted to be able to welcome a brand as big as Vue onboard with Kingfisher and are excited about working with them in the future in developing its offering and audience.”
