EARLY mornings at RSA Academy Arrow Vale are starting with a buzz thanks to the culinary skills of three students who are cooking up a storm to start the school day on a healthy note.

Callum Shill, James Bacciocchi and Bradley Davies all arrive at 7.30am to prepare and serve breakfast at a subsidised rate to other students.

These youngsters contacted Arrow Valley East county councillors Juliet Brunner and Gay Hopkins recently to ask for help sustaining the breakfast club.

The club, open from 7.30-8.30am, is hugely successful and attended by a large number of students.

After visiting and speaking to the students, the councillors were happy to lend their support and gave £1,165 from their divisional funds to the club.

The councillors said they were delighted to be able to support such a great initiative.

Headteacher Guy Shears said: “RSA Academy Arrow Vale is delighted to receive the additional funding to support the existing breakfast club provision for our students.

“This extra funding, combined with the safer schools initiative, will surely enhance the students’ opportunities and experience whilst attending Arrow Vale.

“The importance of this to our vulnerable students cannot be emphasised enough, as a warm welcome and structured support at the start of their day are essential to their achievements and progress.”

This is so WRONG!!!!!!!!
We have asked one of the county Councillors for help out of her divisional fund, which i may add is £10,000,per year to help purchase a defibrillator for another school and was told she has spent it all. Then i read money has been donated to help fund a breakfast club at a school. This money could have brought another defibrillator to save guard our children in another school. What on earth are people thinking of.

I would ask all the candidates who are planning to seek election to the county council (regardless of which party they are standing for )to give a commitment that they will use part of their £10,000 divisional community fund to have defrillulators installed in all schools ,this money will become available in may, redditch heart safe could work with the newly elected county councillors so the costs of the equipment are kept low. What better way of benefiting the community than saving a life which would otherwise be lost? Every school in redditch could become heart safe in may if councillors have the drive to make this happen !

The money can only go so far what's wrong with supporting this? Why should the kids miss out? They wanted it

Say it now , if a child suffered a cardiac arrest at school they would wish a defrillulator within easy reach !if god forbid a child dies as a result of not having the equipment installed when for £970.00 it could be saved questions will be asked by all parents why wasn't there a defrib ? I and I'm sure you would rather have the equipment there ready just incase rather than after a tragedy occurs!
