Save The Alex Campaign in Redditch this Saturday

THERE is still a long way to go before any final decisions are reached over the future of Worcestershire’s acute hospitals.

The work of the joint service review is now coming to an end and in the coming weeks the process will be taken up by the county’s clinical commissioning groups, which control the purse strings and commission healthcare services for its communities.

The groups will be going over the two options – particularly a new provider taking over services at the Alexandra Hospital – more fully ahead of a second phase of engagement, once county council elections have been held in May.

It will only be then that patients and residents get a chance to have a formal say during a three-month public consultation.

Until then the Save The Alex Campaign group plans to lobby to ensure the option of a new provider taking over services in Redditch – which members believe may provide a better solution – is fully investigated and presented to the public.

Before the group takes over the Palace Theatre for a public meeting on Monday, March 11 they will be in the town centre this Saturday.

From 9am onwards members of the campaign will be at Redditch market speaking to anyone who would like more information or has any queries about the public meeting or the speculation over the future of the Alex.
