Music promoter Erin Green
A REDDITCH woman is hoping to turn her dream of becoming an established concert promoter into reality.
Erin Green, 25, quit university after a heart to heart with her terminally ill grandfather and has been working as a waitress at the Abbey Hotel.
When not clearing tables and waiting on people though she is spending her nights in clubs and venues as the founder of Bright Side Music Promotions.
Sadly her grandfather, Arthur, passed away but not before she decided to make the bold move.
“My granddad told me that whatever I did in life to just be happy, that was the most important thing,” she said.
“It started when I saw Show of Hands play at the Leamington Assembly when I should have been revising for my exams, and I was hooked.
“I made the decision that I wanted to help make other people feel the way I did that night, the feeling of being able to forget for a few hours everything else going on in your life and just becoming absorbed in the here and now.
“So I did. I found a local venue where I used to attend playgroup when I was little, which was perfect for shows, and Bright Side Music Promotions was born.”
The company specialises in the best acoustic, roots and folk artists on the UK scene.
It not only promotes established artists, but also supports new and emerging talent.
Ms Green added: “In 2011 I received a phone call from Tim Parsons who used to own MCP, one of the biggest concert promoters in the UK.
“Tim is helping me to realise my dream of leaving behind my minimum wage waitressing job, which I currently use to fund my promoting, and become an established concert promoter.
“He is introducing me to his contacts in the music business and helping me grow as a person and as a promoter.
“With a lot of hard work ahead, the future is looking good.”
The next show by Bright Side Music Promotions is Miranda Sykes (from Show of Hands) and Rex Preston at The Room Upstairs at the Palace Theatre this Saturday.
