Grab a gondolier at the Palace Theatre

ASTWOOD Bank Operatic Society’s next show is Gilbert and Sullivan’s ever popular The Gondoliers.

A great cast, featuring Michael Hawkins, David Steele and Ian Walton, is complemented with an outstanding score courtesy of musical director Tom Porter.

Director Steve Skinner said: “The Gondoliers is still considered one of the most popular and tuneful of all the Gilbert and Sullivan operas and in this production remains essentially traditional in style, but with a few updated twists to keep it fresh and relevant.

“Some people these days may think of these shows as high-brow, but it really isn’t

“It is very accessible and a great deal of fun – a kind of Victorian Monty Python, if you like.”

The Gondoliers is running from Tuesday, March 5 until Saturday, March 9 at 7.30pm each evening with Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £13 (£12 concessions) from the Palace Theatre box office on 01527 65203.
