Men charged with assisting in prisoner John Anslow's escape

SIX men arrested yesterday, Wednesday, February 27, in connection with the John Anslow prison escort van escape have this afternoon been charged.

All six have been charged with conspiracy to assist in the escape of John Anslow in January 2012 and are due before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The men are aged 47, 41, 25, 28, 23, and 20.

The seventh arrested man has not been charged and has been released on police bail.

Officers from West Mercia Police made the arrests at addresses in Redditch, Dudley and Birmingham.   

John Anslow escaped from a prison escort van near HMP Hewell Redditch last year. He remains at large.
