ONE of the most authentic and entertaining groups performing hot swing music from the 20s and 30s will be coming to Redditch.

The Charleston Chasers features 10 fine musicians and a wealth of vocal talent, all of whom bring to the stage the fun and excitement of the period.

The show is overflowing with toe-tapping hits from the golden age of the musicals, including the happy sounds of Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin, Al Bowlly and Al Jolson.

Great musical numbers include The Man I Love, Swanee, The Charleston, California Here I Come, Stardust, Spread A Little Happiness and many more.

Led by percussionist/vocalist Debbie Arthurs, The Charleston Chasers have been described as worthy ambassadors of hot swing and music from the Art Deco period, and have appeared at festivals and theatres around the UK to much acclaim.

They are also regulars on BBC Radio.

After 25 years the band sound as fresh as ever with new arrangements and classic standards from the golden age of musical creativity.

The foot-tapping, hand-clapping, hot swing band will be at the Palace Theatre on March 14 from 7.30pm.

Tickets can be purchased for £15 (£14 discount rate) at the Palace box office in person or by telephone on 01527 65203.
