6:10pm Tuesday 26th February 2013 in News
A PRISONER at HMP Hewell in Tardebigge died in his cell as the result of his dependence on drugs, an inquest was told.
In July 2011 Adrian Penny, 32, was found by his cellmate collapsed on the floor in Houseblock 2 of the Hewell Lane prison.
Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The medical cause of death was given as cardio respiratory failure, mixed drug toxicity (including methadone, Tramadol and Diazepam) and coronary atherosclerosis, a condition in which a person's arteries become clogged and hardened.
A verdict that Mr Penny died as the result of his dependence on drugs was recorded.
