Security advice following Redditch burglary

POLICE are reminding residents to secure their homes after a laptop, purse and wallet were stolen during a burglary in Redditch.

It happened between 10am on Wednesday, February 20 and 2pm the following day at a home off Southcrest Road.

Thieves let themselves in through an insecure door and stole a purse and wallet containing several debit, credit and store cards, a driving licence and some cash and an Acer laptop worth £350.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Rhian O’Reilly, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area during the times stated or from anyone that may have been offered an Acer laptop for sale.”

Residents are reminded to ensure their homes are secure at all times, particularly when going out or away for any length of time. They should make sure windows are shut and locked where possible as well as locking doors.

Anyone with information about the burglary should contact Det Con O’Reilly on 101, quoting incident 22-N-220213, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

As part of a force wide initiative called Citadel, which is aimed at reducing burglaries, West Mercia Police is urging people to be on the look out and to call police as soon as possible if they see any suspicious activity.

For non-emergency calls people should ring 101, but for emergencies, such as reporting a crime as it happens, people should always ring 999.
