New library card to be launched by Worcestershire County Council

CHILDREN aged up to 12 will soon be able to get their hands on a new children's library card from libraries across the county thanks to Worcestershire County Councils Libraries and Learning Service.

The new card has been designed by Liz Pichon, one of the UK's rising stars in children's literature and recently awarded winner at 2012 National Book Award. Author of the popular Tom Gates book series, Liz has included characters from the books in her design for Worcestershire's children's library card.

This exciting launch will take place early next month at libraries and schools across the county as part of a day of celebrations on World Book Day, on Thursday, March 7.

As libraries and school across the county prepare to celebrate their favourite authors and characters, they will also be some of the lucky first to receive their children's library card designed by Liz.

Liz has produced a video clip which will be screened during the day of celebrations, so the children can learn about her ideas and design behind the illustrations for the new card. The video will also be available on the Libraries and Learning website - www.worcestershire.gov.uk/librariesandlearning.
