Signing fun at Walkwood Middle School

THERE have been some exciting activities taking place at Walkwood Middle School in Redditch recently.

The whole school took part in a Guiness Book of Records attempt on behalf of 'Sign Health'.  It was anticipated that there was to be some 175,000 people using sign language at 2.45pm on February 6.

A spokesman said: “The school have an active signing club - to encourage pupils to learn another language - which has been running for many years, but it was exciting to get the whole school behind this one event. All pupils and staff have learnt to sign some key words which could be used in the future.

“What is more, we raised some 400 pounds for the charity in the process.”

The pupils also enjoyed a Chinese cultural workshop during an assembly to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Snake.
