Have your say on Redditch Council's bandstand plans
3:00pm Thursday 14th February 2013 in News
REDDITCH Council is now asking for views on proposed landscaping improvements to the town’s Church Green bandstand area.
Comments are being invited on proposals to open up around the bandstand to improve the space for events after plans were agreed in principle by the council’s executive committee in December.
The plans are on display at redditchbc.gov.uk/towncentre and all the council’s customer service centres and will be open for comments for just over four weeks until Friday, March 15.
Changes to the area around the bandstand and fountain, which were drawn up by council officers after feedback from the Bandstand Festival last September, currently include adding cycle stands, adding a disabled access ramp and creating more space for people to stand during events by relocating shrubs and flower beds.
Council leader Bill Hartnett said: “The plan is to make some changes to the landscaping of the bandstand area that will help bring it into regular use, while preserving the beauty of the area, ahead of a series of summer events that will be held there. This is how we think it could be done. If you have a view on the plans we’d like to hear it, and now is the time to let us know.”
To comment on the plans, email towncentre@redditchbc.gov.uk or send to Lyndsey Berry, Town Hall, Walter Stranz Square, Redditch B98 8AH before the March 15 deadline.
Comments from the consultation will be fed back to the executive committee if any are significant, before the plans are then finalised.
