A MAN has been jailed for three and a half years for burgling a home in Redditch, stealing number plates and theft of a car.

The 23-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, previously pleaded not-guilty to all three offences but was found guilty last week when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court.

He was given three years for burgling a house in Yarningale Close, Redditch, on July 5 and stealing cash and a watch; six months for theft of a Mazda MX5 from Shirley, Solihull, between 30 June and 1 July, and two months to run concurrently for stealing registration plates from a car in Fairford Close, Redditch, between July 4 and 5.

All three offences took place last year.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable O'Reilly from Redditch CID, said: "Invading someone's home and stealing their property is a crime which can have a long lasting impact on the victims. We take these offences extremely seriously and those contemplating breaking into people's homes should be warned that we will do everything in our power to catch and prosecute offenders."
