WORCESTERSHIRE students have received praise for their performance in the latest secondary school league tables.
Councillor Jane Potter, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for education and skills, said the figures indicate an improving picture for the county.
“60.7 per cent of students attained five or more A* to C GCSEs including English and maths compared to 60.1 per cent the previous year (2012), which remains above the national average of 58.8 per cent.
“Attendance figures also point to improvements with overall absence at 5.4 per cent compared to the national figures of 5.7 per cent.
"It is clear from these results that schools in Worcestershire continue to perform well and it is also a credit to the hard work of all the students and staff as well as those who have supported them.
"Congratulations must go to Trinity High School in Redditch which topped the league of most improved schools, moving from 32 per cent A*-C in 2009 to an impressive 80 per cent in 2012.”
