EXCITING things are happening at Indigo arts, as the organisation responsible for some of Redditch’s most acclaimed young singers begins singing sessions for adults.

The charity, which has supported over 100 young people and learning disabled adults weekly in regular arts provision since 2001, has met with increasing demand from adults involved in its projects, as volunteers, parents and friends of the young particpants, to increase their regular weekly sessions to ones for adults.

Indigo O25 will begin with two free taster sessions on February 6 and 13, for those who fancy having a go.

Renowned for a fun, energetic and community approach to all its activities, as well as professional results delivered by an experienced and respected team, Indigo is expecting high demand for the sessions.

Performance will be an essential element of the group’s work, and will be joining the amazing talent of Indigo’s young performers who have enjoyed great reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as undertaking their own productions.

Led by music director Dr Malcolm Carlton, described by Indigo as composer, educator, author, vocal/choral specialist, and all round Mr Music, recruits to Indigo O25 will have the attention of someone with the best credentials, as well as many years of diverse experience in the industry.

Projects director Cathy Moss said ‘We’re really excited about this. We have concentrated on under 25’ in our mainstream activities over the last decade, which has resulted in a lot of nagging from those over 25 who want a bit of the fun.

“Singing seemed to be the most popular to start with, and as it is a good, fun, healthy and accessible activity.”

Indigo O25 sessions will be held at the charity’s new home, in the former Kingsley College Youth Centre, on Wednesdays from 7.30-9.30pm. The sessions are open to those aged 25 plus. There are no auditions. For further information, see www.indigoarts.org.uk or email enquiries@indigoarts.org.uk.
