KINGSLEY College student were hosts to a Sky Sports camera crew and England rugby star Heather Fisher, as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme. 

The programme is run in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust to inspire young people to achieve their goals through sport.  It provides inspiration through top level athletes who act as mentors, and Kingsley College was pleased to welcome Heather as their mentor.

She has played rugby for the England 7s in the 2009 World Cup squad, followed by the 2010 15s Rugby World Cup.  Her vision is set on Rio 2016 where rugby 7s will be staged.

In order to achieve her goals, she has overcome many personal hurdles in life including a fractured back.

Kingsley College has been running a ‘Living for Sport’ club since October and 16 year 10 students were chosen due to their interest in sport. Throughout the programme students have participated in a variety of sporting skills and problem solving activities as well as using the programme as an opportunity to develop their leadership, confidence and teamwork.

Alex Tranter, the college’s head of physical eduction, said: “The students have been a delight to work with throughout the course and for the students to meet Heather has been extremely inspirational for them.”
