PUPILS at a Redditch school were recently treated to a slam poetry session with former Poet Laureate Giovanni Esposito.
Better know as Spoz, a solo artist who has appeared before HRH The Queen, he was at Birchensale Middle School.
He was running poetry workshops with year seven pupils with the aim to get them more involved in creative writing.
At the end of the workshops pupils worked in groups to compete against each other for the best poetry performance of the day.
The winning group will now go on to compete against other school groups from across the county at a slam poetry final at Redditch’s Palace Theatre in March.
Birchensale headteacher Hilary Dowding said: ”We all enjoy having Spoz in School, he creates such a positive enthusiastic buzz - it is very catching.”
