A SECOND new bus service supported by Worcestershire County Council has recently started in Redditch to enable residents of Church Hill, Winyates and Matchborough areas to get to and from the Alexandra Hospital.
This is the second 'Community Bus' service to be operated by Redditch Dial-a-Ride following the launch of the 'Hopper', service 52, earlier last year.
The new hospital service, number 59, runs Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3.35pm and provides a direct bus for passengers who need to get to the hospital for appointments and visits.
It started in early November 2012 and is a pilot scheme supported by Worcestershire County Council, which is keen to see more of these community-type transport services up-and-running.
Councillor Juliet Brunner, Worcestershire County Councillor for Arrow Valley East, said: "I'm really pleased that residents in Matchborough, Winyates and Church Hill will have easier access once again to the hospital with the 59 community bus. I would urge residents to check timetables and use this service."
And Ruth Griffin, Redditch Dial-a-Ride manager, added: “After the success of the first Redditch Hopper service serving Webheath, we are delighted to be able to improve access to the hospital through a second community bus service.
“The new 59 route connecting Church Hill North, Winyates, Matchborough and the Alexandra Hospital, Monday to Friday, goes over existing bus routes so it offers people more connections to the hospital.”
The 59 timetable can be found, together with all Worcestershire bus timetables, by calling the Worcestershire Hub on 01905 7654765 or by visiting www.worcestershire.gov.uk/bustimetables. Alternatively, call Redditch Dial-a-Ride on 01527 534191.
