Redditch people invited to free gym open day to kick-start 2013
1:00pm Tuesday 1st January 2013 in News
RESIDENTS are being encouraged to start 2013 as you mean to go on by taking advantage of a completely free day of gym and activity classes at Redditch’s Abbey Stadium.
Free unlimited use of the Springs gym from 8am to 8pm and free classes like Boxfit and Circuits from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, January 5 are the highlights of the Abbey Stadium’s first open day since 2012's £6.5m revamp.
Redditch councillor Luke Stephens, who is responsible for leisure, said: “Lots of people want to make a fresh start in the New Year and get a bit more active, and it is our pleasure to invite you to our Abbey Stadium open day so you can see what it is like for yourself. Hundreds have come to past open days past and the outstanding team of personal trainers and class instructors guarantees you an experience.
“2012 was a big year for local sport and fitness. More than twice as many people went swimming in Redditch in 2012 compared to 2011, and the gym and classes on offer have also been very popular.
“If you feel like you want to make lifestyle changes in 2013 why not come and sample Redditch’s first rate facility for free.”
The swimming pools are open as normal during the open day and are not part of the open day offer. Public swimming sessions are always free for registered residents aged under 16 or over 60.
