A MAN jas been arrested and charged with an offence involving the firing of an air rifle, after it was reported that a pupil had been struck by a stray pellet at a Redditch school.

Police went to Ispley Middle School in Winyates Way after receiving a call at 10.38am on Tuesday, December 18, to say that a boy walking in a courtyard there had been hit in the upper chest by a pellet fired from beyond the school grounds.

The boy was not injured and did not require medical treatment.

Shortly afterwards officers arrested a 69-year-old man at an address near the school. He was taken to Redditch Police Station subsequently charged with firing an air rifle beyond his premises, an offence contrary to the Firearms Act.
