A KINGSLEY College pupil has won a national design competition to secure her and her friends a free bowling session.

13-year-old Chloe Alcock from Smallwood came top of thousands of entrants in a national competition organised by the Original Bowling Company to design a monster mascot for its Monster Bowl activity.

Caroline Atkins, campaigns manager for the Original Bowling Company, said: “Chloe’s creation,’ Googley’, stood out to us because it was so innovative, with its combination of blue fur, four eyes, horns, tongues and talons, and yet it still managed to look cute.

“The panel of judges agreed that Googley was the perfect addition to the existing Monster Gang and he got a lot of attention after his standee was used in every centre across the country.”

As part of her prize, Chloe saw her creation used in 42 bowling centres across the UK and was awarded her own full size cardboard cut-out.

Kevin Fyffe, manager at Hollywood Bowl in Birmingham, said: “The Monster Bowl experience is a huge hit with teens and families alike, and we really hoped that it would be a local entrant who won the competition. Having seen some of the superb entries sent in this year, I know it was a tough decision to make, but we’re thrilled that Chloe’s put us on the map with her monster talent. We’re looking forward to welcoming her and her friends.”
