CHILDREN, parents and cares from Woodlands Children’s Centre enjoyed a day out on the farm this week as a special treat from two county councillors.

Councillors Brandon Clayton and Jane Potter teamed up with the Sure Start children’s centre in Woodrow to make good use of their divisional funds, and send the children to Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm in Bromsgrove.

Children were encouraged to feed the animals, as well as getting to use the play areas, and have a delicious lunch together.

Brandon Clayton said: “The children absolutely loved it. It’s the first time we’ve done anything like it at all but Sure Start came up to us and asked if we could help. We’d definitely do it again. We just thought it was a lovely idea. For young children like that to go and see animals in a controlled environment like that is brilliant.”

Louise Hall, Sure Start, senior support worker, said: “This was a fabulous day for the families to enjoy. Getting everyone together strengthens the community, forges friendships and generally enhances the local community spirit”.
