A REDDITCH car park will be closed next month to allow the start of works to redevelop the Church Hill district centre.

In advance of the start of works in the area on December 28, notices are due to be erected around the Tanhouse Lane car park, on the north side of Church Hill Way, warning of its closure.

Alternative car parking on the other side of Church Hill Way is being highlighted for easy access to the shops and residents that use the recycling bins on the Tanhouse Lane car park are advised that the nearest recycling centre after it is closed will be on the other side of the Church Hill centre, accessible from Rickyard Lane.

Redditch Council’s head of environmental services, Guy Revans, said: “We are pleased to announce that works on the redevelopment of Church Hill centre will soon be starting.

“Please note, that if you use the Tanhouse Lane car park to visit the shops or drop off and collect, particularly schoolchildren, you will need to make alternative arrangements or use the existing southern car park located behind the Church Hill centre.“

The initial phase of the redevelopment of Church Hill centre will see the existing supermarket, hot food take away, hairdressers, pharmacy and dental practice move into the ground floor of a brand new commercial centre together with a new medical centre located at first floor.

In a subsequent second phase, new affordable and shared ownership housing will be built together with a new road linking the north and south areas of Church Hill.
