AN innovative and exciting way to shop has been launched in Redditch.

The town is one of only four in the country to have been given the opportunity try TikTap, a mobile phone app which lets people access the latest deals.

Residents download the TikTap discovery app which stores details of deals and offers in the area – users can then “tik” the ones that appeal.

When in the outlet, the user simply “taps” their mobile phone over a contactless pod next to the till to redeem the offer.

Redditch Town Centre Partnership has sponsored 25 local businesses to participate.

Ros Sidaway, from the partnership, said “It will really promote the town centre and its businesses.

“With TikTap we can tell a story about what there is available locally and why residents should spend more time and money in their own high streets.”

As well being able to access the best deals the scheme is also hoping to drive footfall into retail outlets using targeted promotions.

Redditch retailers will also be able to track and validate redemption of the offers in real-time, providing vital insight into buying patterns and brand insight.

Mark Barnes, from TikTap, said: “What is very apparent is that Redditch businesses want to use innovation to attract customers.

“They have a passion for their town and I look forward to working with them.”
