AN Any Questions event for young people from high schools in Redditch and Bromsgrove was recently held at NEW College, giving them an opportunity to question MEPs, MPs and council leaders.

Among the panel members were Inspector Ian Joseph from West Mercia Police, Anthea Mcintyre MEP, Councillor Adrian Hardman, Worcestershire County Council leader, Nikki Sinclaire MEP, and Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid.

The event was paid for by Worcestershire county councillors’ divisional funds and was supported by Redditch county councillors Juliet Brunner, Gay Hopkins, Jane Potter, Brandon Clayton, David Thain, Terry Spencer, Philip Gretton and Barry Gandy.

Event organiser, Coun Brunner, said: "I've organised these events for the last seven years in Redditch but wanted to give young people in both towns a chance to question and gain more insight into how the four tiers of Government serve them.

“Leader of Worcestershire County Council Cllr Adrian Hardman said," I was delighted to attend it was very interesting to hear the views of our young people. I'm looking forward to attending the next one."

Nikki Sinclaire MEP added: " I was pleased to be able to attend and take part in a high level intellectual debate. If we can get this level of enthusiasm about politics it can only be a good thing for the country."
